Northmoor House is a large Victorian country house for you to make your own during your stay. Situated in Exmoor National Park, with extensive well tended gardens against a woodland backdrop, Northmoor is a stunning setting for your house party.

Nestled in woodland at the edge of the renowned Barle valley, Northmoor comfortably sleeps 24, exuding a relaxed, romantic atmosphere come rain or shine. Built in 1856 by the owner of a large lead works in newly industrialised Newcastle, Northmoor still proudly fulfils its original vocation and offers a perfect rural retreat to relax and enjoy oneself.

Sensitively restored, the house is little altered since Victorian times and many original features, such as servants bells and the butlers bath stowed in a cupboard make Northmoor a fascinating place to stay and explore. The large kitchen offers ample modern facilities to cater for all occupants during your stay. The billiards room, along with table tennis, darts and table football will provide plenty of indoor entertainment. A disabled access bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor, and no steps throughout the ground floor, mean that Northmoor can be enjoyed by all.

Wild Red Deer frequent the gardens and park, and the adjoining ancient Sessile Oak woodlands are a designated area of Special Scientific Interest. The clear waters of the Barle are only a short walk from the main house and you will be ideally placed to explore the Exmoor National Park. The picturesque town of Dulverton is just 1.5 miles, and can be reached without using the road, perfect for a cream tea.

Dulverton also offers a Co-op, butchers, take away, chemists, library and local information.

Local stables offer beautiful riding opportunities and we have ¾ mile private double bank fishing on the Barle.

Situated within the Exmoor National Park, Northmoor offers an ideal base for exploring the beautiful landscapes and quaint villages of Exmoor. The coast is half an hour away, via a sightseeing drive through the Park. The ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps is ten minutes away, as are the open moors with wild living herds of ponies and the wild red deer.

  • The house maintains its Victorian character throughout whilst providing ample modern conveniences for a luxurious stay. There are five double rooms, six twin singles and two single rooms, with seven bathrooms and two additional toilets. This includes a disabled access bathroom and bedroom downstairs. The lack of any steps on the ground floor means that Northmoor can be enjoyed by all.

  • The large kitchen has a gas cooker alongside an Aga, with two dishwashers, microwave, large fridge freezer with automatic ice making facility, food processor and ample pots, pans and utensils.

  • Three games rooms with Snooker, pool, table football and table tennis will provide plenty of entertainment. Outside, there is a croquet lawn and small football pitch.

  • The dining room seats 24, and the two large reception rooms can be opened up for a party, or provide a cosy sitting room for evenings in front of the television. A DVD and CD player are provided. There is also a small library for getting away from it all.
